TWO PIECE CORSET

LESSON 5

To make a two piece corset make a complete draft of the two piece girdle as explained in Lesson 2. Then raise 2 inches from 1 to Z, 5 to 6 and 3 to 14, as shown on diagram. Make a curved line from 2 to 6 and 14. Draw a line from 3 to 4 and 3 to 14. The line from 3 to 4 will be used if no seam in center back is required. If a seam or lacing in the back is required, use line from 3 to 14 and fill in space by curve at 3 to 14, as shown on diagram.

Continue with the dart as follows: Take out from 6 to 9 and 6 to 10, ¼ inch less than you have taken out from 5 to 7 and 5 to 8. For instance, if the space from 5 to 7 is 1½ inch, take out from 6 to 9 and 6 to 10 only 1¼ inch on each side and connect with curve from 7 to 9 and 8 to 10, as shown in lesson 2.

If front gore insert is wanted at the bottom of the corset, take out from 11 to 13, 1½ inches and take up from 11 to 12 not less than 4 inches (which may be lengthened for longer garments to 5 and 6 inches).

In cutting out this pattern, cut the front part of this garment from 2 down to 12, 13, 17 etc., leaving off the gore insert. If you desire the gore insert pattern, use pattern from 11, 12 to 13 and allow seams on each side for gore insert.
