FOUNDATION OUTLINE FOR BRASSIERE

LESSON 10

To begin the foundation for brassiere begin the usual way as in previous lesson. Draw a line from 1 to 2 and from 1 to 3. Measure from 1 to 2, 8½ inches under arm length, and from 3 to 4, also 8½ inches, and connect a line from 2 to 4. Now measure from 1 to 5 and 2 to 6, 1/3 of size amounting to 12 inches for size 36. Draw a line from 5 to b down to 7. From 6 to 7 is 3 inches; 6 to 8, 2 inches ; and from 2 to 9, 2 inches. Connect a line from 8 to 9. The space from 2 to 9 is 2 inches below waist line and the space from 4 to 19 is 3 inches, and by connecting 7 to 19, makes it 3 inches below waist line in the, front.

Now prepare the side seam by taking out from 5 to 13 and 8 to 14, ¾ inch, and draw a line down from 13 to 14. Take out from 6 to 16 and 15 to 17, ¾ inch each side, and connect 16 to 8 and 17 to 14, as shown on diagram. Now connect lines from 16 up to 5 and 17 up to X. Take out ¼ inch between 13 and X.

Measure from 1 to 10, 1¼ inches; 2 to 11, 2 inches; and 9 to 12, 1¾ inches. Connect line from 10 to 11 down to 12 for a fitting line at center back. Now measure 20 inches for bust measurement, from 10 to 18, and allow 3 inches for seams from 18 to 3. Then square a line down from 3 to 4 down to 19. Extend from 4 to 20, ¾ inch, and connect from 3 to 20 down to 21. Continue with the next lesson for the complete brassiere.
