BRASSIERE GRADING

From Size 36 to 38

LESSON 32

Before grading the brassiere, note that this garment consists of a 1 piece back and 2 piece front. We, therefore, increase the pattern with ½ inch at the 1 piece back and the remaining half inch will be divided between the 2 parts of the front. Note carefully the method of grading. Should the back also be in 2 parts, the method of grading the front should be applied to the back parts.

To begin to grade, copy the back pattern or section 1 from, 1 to 2, as illustrated by dotted lines, and move pattern in from 1 to 3 and 2 to 4 with ½ inch and copy the balance of the pattern from 3 to 6, 6 to 5 and 5 to 4, as shown on diagram.

Now grade section 2 which is the inner part of the front. Copy pattern from 7 to 8, as illustrated by dotted line, and move pattern in from 7 to 9 and 8 to 10 with 3/8 inch and copy balance of pattern from 9 to 11, 11 down to 12 and 12 to 10.

Now grade section 3. Copy edge of front pattern from 13 to 14, as illustrated by dotted lines, and move pattern in with 1/8 inch from 13 to 15 and 14 to 16. Copy the balance of the pattern from 15 to 17 and 17 down to 18, and from 18 to 16, as shown on diagram.

For larger or smaller size, increase or decrease the same amount per size in the same places as illustrated on the diagram.
